Help Victoria and Joyce Recover from Eaton Fires

We had the opportunity to speak with Victoria and hear her story firsthand. She shared the heartbreaking reality of losing her home in the Eaton Fire and the overwhelming challenges she and her 8-year-old daughter, Joyce, now face.
Victoria and Joyce’s journey has been one of strength and resilience, yet the fire has left them with nothing. Victoria, a lifelong Altadena resident, and Joyce, a bright and talented young girl, have lost their home, their school, and the sense of security that once defined their lives.
-Home before the fire.
-Home after the fire in Altadena.
Just weeks ago, Victoria and Joyce’s home—a cozy apartment in a close-knit community—was completely consumed by the flames. Joyce, who is a talented gymnast and cheerleader, has always been a beacon of joy and dedication. She was thriving at Pasadena Rosebud Academy, a second home she loved from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. But now, she’s without a school, without a routine, and without the tools she needs to succeed. The loss has been overwhelming for both of them, but they remain hopeful in the face of adversit
-Joyce
Victoria and Joyce have been staying with a close friend, Kimberlina McKinney, whose daughter is Joyce’s best friend and former classmate. The two girls have found comfort in being together, but Victoria and Joyce need more than temporary shelter—they need help rebuilding their lives. Victoria works full-time at a dental office, but the costs of starting over are overwhelming. Despite receiving some basic clothing donations, they still have no permanent home or the essentials to begin again.
